Hankuk Fiber, a local company in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, has actively stepped forward to engage in volunteer work to support and recover areas damaged by the 17th Typhoon 'Tapah'.
Typhoon 'Tapah' caused damage across 3,249 hectares nationwide, specifically impacting various crops such as apples and jujubes in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do.
Choi Yoon-hyun (50, of Gaein-ri, Sannae-myeon), who runs an orchard, expressed his despair, saying, "The strong winds on the evening of the 22nd caused nearly 60% of the apples across my $15,868\text{m}^2$ (4,800 pyeong) orchard to fall, resulting in enormous losses."
Upon hearing this, 15 executives and employees from Hankuk Fiber visited the damaged orchard in Sannae-myeon, Miryang, on the 25th. They inspected the site and worked tirelessly to support the recovery efforts aimed at minimizing the farm's financial loss, including clearing and disposing of fallen fruit and righting overturned trees.
Hankuk Fiber President Choi Jong-il commented, "I am pleased that our employees and I could contribute to the community by helping with the recovery efforts. We sincerely wish that the orchard can be restored and the farmers can return to their daily lives soon. We will continue to fulfill our role as a member of the local society for its development."
The affected farmer expressed thanks for Hankuk Fiber's volunteer work, stating, "The fallen fruit easily rots, requiring urgent collection, but thanks to the executives and employees of Hankuk Fiber, we were able to finish the work in just one day."
